Stinson Leonard Street LLP Employment Law Staff Attorney

Stinson Leonard Street LLP seeks a staff attorney with at least four (4) years of experience with adversary employment law matters to join its Kansas City office.

Juris Doctor, active Missouri attorney license, substantial experience practicing before the EEOC and fair employment practices agencies and in federal and state courts, superior academic performance, and demonstrated high level of research, communications and analytical skills are required. Experience working under litigation management and billing guidelines used by large corporate clients and insurers is preferred.

The staff attorney will have primary working responsibility in defending employment-related administrative investigations and litigation. The staff attorney will respond to charges of discrimination and requests for information and interviews by the EEOC and fair employment practices and similar agencies. In litigation, the staff attorney will prepare and/or respond to pleadings and written discovery, engage in deposition and motion practice, and occasionally advocate in a hearing, trial or arbitration. The staff attorney will frequently be involved in mediations, witness interviews and client communications and sometimes travel regionally (usually day trips). The staff attorney must be organized and able to coordinate and prioritize among numerous competing matters. The staff attorney should be receptive to supervision but able to work independently, responsive, helpful, and practical.
