ASSISTANT CITY ATTORNEY POSITIONS: The City of Kansas City, Missouri City Attorney’s office is seeking applicants for two assistant city attorney positions for litigation. Please apply at www.kcmo.gov/careers.
The City Attorney’s Office handles cases involving torts, contracts, tax, constitutional claims, and employment discrimination and other civil rights claims. A litigation attorney in our office frequently appears in court, including serving as first chair in jury and bench trials before state and federal courts. The attorney will be responsible for his or her own cases from the initial filing of the petition or complaint, through the appellate process.
The attorney hired for either position will have the opportunity for career advancement and to handle more complex litigation as more experience is gained. The attorney will also provide advice to the Mayor and City Council, City boards and commissions, and the professional staff. The office comprises fifty attorneys and twenty-two support staff. The starting salary is $59,340 per year, plus excellent benefits.
